Chim Cheroo Chimney Services, Inc. has been in business for over 35 years and is a trusted provider of chimney, fireplace, gas hearth, and masonry services, committed to safety, quality workmanship, and excellent customer service. We service North Central Ohio areas including Richland, Ashland, Lorain, Sandusky, Huron, Erie, Ottawa, Crawford, and Wayne Counties. We are looking for a hardworking and motivated Technician Apprentice & Masonry Laborer to support our team in chimney maintenance, repairs, and masonry work.
Job Responsibilities
Chimney Technician Apprentice Duties:
- Assist lead chimney technicians with inspections, cleanings, repairs, and installations.
- Carry tools, ladders, and equipment to and from job sites.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including job sites and company vehicles.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
- Learn and develop technical skills related to chimney maintenance and repair.
Qualifications
- No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
- Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn a skilled trade.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred.
- Must be comfortable working in tight spaces and on rooftops.
- Prior experience in construction, masonry, or chimney services is a plus but not required.

As we expand our services, we are seeking a skilled and dynamic Gas Fireplace Technician with sales experience to join our growing team.
Job Description
The Gas Fireplace Technician will play a dual role, combining technical expertise with sales skills to provide exceptional service. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing gas fireplaces while also identifying customer needs and offering product upgrades or additional services. The ideal candidate is a problem solver who excels in both technical tasks and customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and set up gas hearth products and related equipment in residential and commercial properties.
- Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently while educating customers on proper usage and care.
- Identify customer needs during service visits and recommend suitable products or services, including upgrades, accessories, and maintenance plans.
- Provide accurate quotes and explain the benefits of recommended solutions in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of product lines and stay updated on the latest features and advancements in gas fireplace technology.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers by delivering outstanding service and follow-up.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Gas Fireplace Technician or in a similar role.
- Sales experience, preferably in the HVAC, home improvement, or appliance industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of gas fireplaces, including installation and repair procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a way that is easy for customers to understand.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude in identifying customer needs.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NFI Gas Certification) are a plus but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
